The Story

Description:
Novem is a collection of Kutani-yaki porcelain, originating from Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Unlike traditional Kutani style porcelain, which is known for its vivid colors and elaborate overglaze, Novem has created a minimalist style that only features a delicate rust-glaze on the edges.

9.75"D x 1.5"H

History: 
Kutani ware originated as the official kiln of the Maeda Clan in the early Edo period, in the 17th century, and has a history spanning 300 years. Among them, those produced in the first 40 years are called "Ko-Kutani" (old Kutani). These ceramics, were highly valued for their seven-color glaze, incorporating yellow, purple, navy, red, and green, along with underglaze and a rusted edge. It is produced in the city of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Made by hand, each  rust-glaze on the edge is unique. The plate you receive may not be the one depicted.

Care Instructions:
Microwave and dishwasher safe.
Returns must be made within 2 weeks in original, unused condition with all packaging for either 1. Store credit for the full amount or 2. Refund - minus a 20% restocking fee.Tortoise does not cover the cost of return shipping or the cost of re-shipping an exchange, and the cost of shipping for returns and exchanges is the responsibility of the customer.
