The Story
Description:
Designed by Balmuda in Tokyo, the Toaster Pro rethinks the act of toasting as a controlled balance of heat, moisture, and time. At its core is a steam-driven system. A small amount of water is introduced into the chamber, where it rapidly vaporizes, surrounding the bread with a thin layer of moisture. This allows the surface to crisp while preserving the interior structure, resulting in a distinct contrast of textures: lightly caramelized outside, soft and structured within.
Temperature is managed across multiple zones, enabling precise control over how heat is applied. Dedicated modes adjust this balance for different breads and foods, while the Pro model introduces a salamander-style top heat. This concentrated, high-temperature finish allows for browning, caramelizing, and surface crisping typically reserved for professional kitchens.
Compact in scale yet technically layered, the Toaster Pro functions as both toaster and small oven. It supports a range of uses from daily bread to gratins and reheated dishes, extending beyond a single-purpose appliance.

Originally a rock musician, BALMUDA founder Gen Terao studied design and manufacturing before launching BALMUDA in Tokyo in 2003. Terao's motivation for the technology-forward company is to create joyful, surprising and moving experiences through home appliances rather than a focus on eliminating inconvenience. Though utilizing new technology is a prominent part of the brand, its DNA is grounded in Terao's life experiences and travels.
